SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Students who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for scholarships upon completion of the screening process:
*student is comitted to studying full-time at Osaka YMCA for a minimum of 1 year
*student has superior grades
*student has a good attendance record
*student has a commendable attitude regarding studies

①*JASSO Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students
Students who meet the following conditions are eligible to apply for this private financial aid scholarship:
*visa status: “college student ” or “pre-college student”
*Study term: 2 years at YMCA
*has superior grades, attitude and attendance
Students will be selected after the nomination process. The recipient of this scholarship will be awarded 50,000 yen per month during the second year of study.

Osaka YMCA International Scholarship
Students who meets the following requirements are eligible to apply for the YMCA International Scholarship.
6 months after enrollment, 10 students will each be awarded 100,000 yen every half term.
*Visa status: ‘college student’ or a ‘pre-college student’
*Study term: minimum 1 year at YMCA
*Has superior grades and attendance

OSAKA YMCA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP SUBSIDY…100,000 Yen
YMCA will award this scholarship to 1 student who has been accepted into a higher education institution and who has had exceptional grades and attitude.

Discount Pass

DISCOUNT PASS(only for students of Comprehensive Japanese Language Course)

Students who enroll at the YMCA for one year or more can receive student discount passes for public transportation (JR train, subways, and private trains and buses) that will take the student from the station nearest their house to the station nearest the YMCA. The discount reduces the transportation about 50%.
Please note, short-stay visa holders or students of other courses are not eligible for this discount.

fundraisingOsaka YMCA strives to expand its activity to help people to dwell together with justice and in peace, based on the love of Jesus Christ.
As a Christian school, the YMCA Japanese language school was formed for the purpose of giving pastors, evangelists, church workers and teachers Japanese language training.


Eligibility for application:

Applicant must belong to a church and presently serves there or has plans to do so in the future. The applicant must be non-Japanese and has a need to learn Japanese. (Nationality and funding are inconsequential.)
Applicant must have a strong desire to attend YMCA and study Japanese (not just the sender/ sponsor)
The sending church must have an office in Japan with a representative who will be the student’s guarantor and will take responsibility for the student while living in Japan.

Reduciton Calculation : 30 percent of Tuition.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be dedicated to Japanese language study and fulfill attendance requirements.
Applicant understands the nature of international / regional activities and will actively participate as a volunteer.

Examples:
*participate in worship services and programs by sharing testimonies and giving messages
*Show international support by helping with handicap programs and contributing by giving donations
*Help schoolmates
*Participate in cross-cultural programs with local schools, etc

SCHOOL FEE PAYMENT DEADLINES

・visa holders must pay within 2 weeks of commencement of classes
Students applying for visas through YMCA must pay by the time the immigration office issues the certificate of eligibility (the residency permit).

SUSPENSION

The following is a list of reasons in which an a student may be suspended.
1. The student record shows too many absences, meaning the student was absent more than 90% of class days. The student’s attitude is not good and the quality of the schoolwork is very low. Student does not take exams and grades are incomplete.

2. When the student breaks the policies of the school or the laws of Japan.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

In addition to the documents necessary for applications, the following documents must be submitted. Upon submission, a guarantor (representative from sending agency) or another responsible person needs to come to YMCA for an interview.

*Statement of promise
*Brochure about group to which student belongs

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Acceptance is based on the evaluation of presented documents and on the interview test. (However, acceptance is not based solely on documentation.)

Legare Tanimachi(Men/Women's dormitory)

Legare Tanimachi works in cooperation with YMCA. It has a full time caretaker living in there. It has an automatic security lock system at the entrance of 1st floor, so safety is ensured. Lagare Tanimachi is very close to school and facilities are clean and completed.

TOYAMASO

Toyama –so is a private student dormitory, separated into men and women dorms, that works in cooperation with YMCA. A kind couple who enjoys taking care of foreign students manage the dorm and they are like Japanese parents to the students who live there. A resident caretaker takes of safety related matters and keeps the area clean. The dorm parents are happy to share with students about life in Japan, manners and cultural norms.
